Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Termio ("the Application") is a Windows terminal application distributed through our website, GitHub Releases, and the Microsoft Store. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

1. Data We Collect

Termio is designed with a local-first, privacy-respecting architecture. The following table summarizes all data handling:

The statements below apply to the Termio application itself. This website may use analytics for site operations and marketing measurement, but that website analytics is separate from the application and does not include your terminal content.

  • Authentication credentials — Your Windows password is passed directly to the Windows LogonUserW API on your local machine. It is never stored on disk, never logged, and never transmitted outside your device.
  • Terminal session data — All terminal I/O (commands, output) is processed locally between the Termio server process and your browser. No terminal content is transmitted to external servers.
  • Application settings — Stored locally in %APPDATA%\Termio\settings.ini. Never transmitted externally.
  • Application logs — Stored locally in %APPDATA%\Termio\logs\. Never transmitted externally.
  • No application telemetry — The Termio application itself collects no usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic data.

2. Enterprise License Activation

When you activate an Enterprise license, the following data is transmitted once to Lemon Squeezy (our payment and license management provider):

  • Your license key
  • A device identifier (generated from hardware properties, used to enforce the per-device activation limit)

After successful activation, the result is saved locally to %APPDATA%\Termio\license.json. The license key itself is not saved to disk — only the activation status and device binding are stored. All subsequent application launches verify the license locally without any network requests.

Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy applies to data processed during license activation and purchase. See lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

3. Microsoft Store

Termio will be distributed through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft may collect data as part of the Store download and update process in accordance with Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

4. Website Analytics

This website may use analytics tools to measure visits, traffic sources, and page usage. This applies only to the website and does not change the application's local-first behavior: the Termio application itself does not send terminal content, usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic data to us.

5. Children's Privacy

Termio is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
